May 14: This week we will be previewing basic GA Studies geography. This will help students have a basic understanding of the GA Studies geography Unit in 8th grade.

May 7: We began our Student Growth Measure (SGM) Review last Friday and will continue reviewing all course work studied throughout the year  Monday -Thursday. The SGM test is Friday, 11 May and is the equivalent of a GMAS test but for social studies. The SGM will be graded as a final exam. Students should review their Cloze notes from the year each evening this week. 

April 30: We began our unit on personal finance last Tuesday and will finish up this Friday with a quiz. The student growth measure (SGM) test will be administered on May 15th in the computer lab. It's all online and multiple choice.The SGM will graded as a final exam. Remind your kids to take a few minutes each evening to review their notes since the beginning of the year. Every question on the test is in their notes. 

April 22: There is a quiz tomorrow on South Africa Apartheid. We did an extensive review on Friday and students were encouraged to review over the weekend. On Tuesday, we'll begin our personal finance unit for the next two weeks. 

April 16: We will end our Africa Unit this Friday, with a study on South African Apartheid. There will be a quiz on Friday. 

April 9: This weeks lesson, Pan-African & Independence movement, will examine the countries of Kenya and Nigeria and the rebellion-change that affected both countries in past and present. There will be an in class assignment on Friday.  

April 2: This weeks lesson will focus on Africa's partitioning, slave trade, colonization and independence movements. There will be a homework assignment on Wednesday. 

March 19: This week we'll be learning about Africa's instability in education & health and how this affects the standard of living. There will be a graded in class assignment on Thursday. 

March 12: We'll begin a lesson on Africa's government types in Kenya, Nigeria & South Africa. This lesson will take all week. Students will receive worksheets and graphic organizers for in class assignments to complete on Wednesday and Frida. 

March 5: This week we'll be finishing up our lesson on population, trade & Africa's ethnic and religious groups. There will be a quiz over this material on Friday, March 9, 2018. Students will need to review their lesson worksheets and & Cloze Notes to prepare. 

Feb 26: We will continue our Africa unit with the population & trade and the effects of where people live and work across the continent. Students will have to complete two in class assignment worksheets on tomorrow and Friday.

Feb 20: There is quiz Tuesday, 20 Feb. on Africa's geographical features. On Wednesday, we'll begin study on Africa's environmental issues. 

Feb 12: We begin our last unit of the year, "Africa" on Monday, 12 Feb. 2-18. Quiz on the physical features of Africa on Friday, the 16th of February. 

Feb 5: Vietnam's Independence, SE Asia's climate,location vs population, and distribution of resources 

Feb. 1: Containment of Communism in Vietnam and North Korea

Jan. 22: Quiz Friday on Communism in China (8 essay questions)

Jan. 8, 2018: Welcome Back!!! I hope you all enjoyed and had a safe holiday. I want to thank all that gave me cards and gifts. It means so much to me of your thoughtfulness and kindness.

This week your kids will be completing the religions of South East Asia unit and then taking a quiz Thursday. Friday, all students will be in the computer lab for the quarterly based assessment (2) (QBA).

As of Monday, 11 December. We're beginning a new unit this week: Southern and Eastern Asia, students will be studying the geography and economies of Japan, India, China and North Korea of SE Asia.

As of Monday 4 December: Research paper is due this Friday, 8 Dec., 2017. We will begin a new unit of study on Southeast Asia geograpy, Tuesday, 5 December.

As of Monday, 27 November: There will no S.S. homework assigned thru 8 Dec. when the research paper is due.This will give all students more time to complete the paper. Students should be spending atleast 20-30 minutes each evening to complete this very important paper.

7th grade social studies will have a quiz tomorrow. On Thursday we will be in the lab for Achieve 3000. 

Parents: I have given your kids research paper topic selection sheets for your signature.they were due last Thursday. Remember all 7th grade social students must complete a social science research paper in the first semester in MLA Format. All the information regarding steps to complete, help with topic selection and MLA format is on the link below. All papers will be uploaded via turnitin.com by December 8, 2017 where the  will be graded. I will collect a hard copy from each student as well. 70% of the paper will be graded on following MLA format.
