Business and Computer Science 8th grade

Welcome to Business and Computer Science!  In this class we will be enhancing our computer skills as well as learning many things about 21^st century careers. We will be using Microsoft Office 2016 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.  We will also use an online typing program found at www.typing.com.  Students can practice keyboarding skills at home as well as in this class. This is a free typing tutor that will keep track of the student’s progress as they go through the lessons.

 We will use the internet and discuss the importance of internet safety as well as investigate what cyberbullying is. We will warm up daily by practicing our keyboarding skills so that we can improve them since they are so important to efficiency in computer use.

 The only supplies that the students will need for the class are paper and a pencil or pen. These are required items. Students have a One Drive account that is already set up through the school district. They are encouraged to use this account so that they can begin a project one place and access it anywhere that has internet access. This will eliminate the need for a flash drive or the worry that something will happen to the flash drive. Students cannot save documents to the computer at school. 

This is a project-based class.  Students will demonstrate an understanding of what is being taught by thorough completion of these projects. Some projects will be individual and some will be group projects.  Students will always know ahead of time how I will be assessing them and will know what I am looking for. All projects will be completed in class. There will be no homework.
