How this course works

In this course, you will (hopefully) learn some the basics of using an image editing program to manipulate images for use in handouts or webpages. If you are coming to this course for the first time, click the button on the right to Join this course.

The tool we are using is the free program "Paint.NET". There are several free image editing tools, but I chose this one because of it's similarity to the Microsoft Paint tool with which many are already familiar. If you were hoping to learn how to use something like GIMP, then this tutorial is probably going to be too basic for you.

Each module has a brief explanation of the tools being covered. Following the explanation, there are videos that demonstrate the necessary skills. For a module to be considered "complete" you can submit the assignment at the end of each module. There are no grades for this course, I just like to see the progression made through the modules.

This course assumes you have the following basic computer skills:

You should know how to download and install software from the internet.
You should know how to save a picture from a website to your computer.
You should know how use a program to open a file you have downloaded from the internet.
