In this course, students will explore computer programming, computational thinking, and artificial intelligence through hands-on activities and projects. Students will learn how computers work, design and debug programs, use AI as a tool to support problem-solving, create digital solutions to real-world problems, and explore careers in information technology.
Course Units
Unit 1: Careers & Computer Systems
- Explore careers in information technology, employability skills, and the components of computer systems.
Unit 2: Computational Thinking & Artificial Intelligence
- Develop problem-solving strategies using algorithms, decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and the responsible use of AI tools.
Unit 3: Computer Programming
- Design, develop, test, debug, and implement computer programs using a programming language.
Unit 4: Hardware, Software & Digital Solutions
- Explore how hardware and software work together and create digital artifacts that address real-world problems.
Class Preparation
Students should bring the following items to class every day: Charged Chromebook, paper and pencil, binder, headphones, notebook
