Week of Aug 29 - Sep 2

6th Grade

This week students learned about the impact of technology on man and the environment.  They developed a timeline based on this information.

7th Grade

Students are creating a business based on the technological system.  They are applying the five phases of goals, inputs, processes, outputs and feedback in the development of their business.  Furthermore they are applying the seven inputs of the technological system in the development of their business model.

8th Grade

Students have learned to identify the various forms of sketches and drawings used in the development of a design brief and how these items apply to the development of mock ups and products.

Broadcasting

Students are applying the knowledge of storyboards in the development of programs, animation, and other media programs.  They are creating storyboards for a skit that they are creating.

Week of Sept 6 - Sept 9

6th Grade

Students are learning the various symbols that are used in the development of floor plans.  This is done through note taking and sketches.  Students will apply the knowledge learned and apply it in the creation of a rough draft and a final draft of their home.

7th Grade

Students are creating a business based on the technological system.  They are applying the five phases of goals, inputs, processes, outputs and feedback in the development of their business.  Furthermore they are applying the seven inputs of the technological system in the development of their business model.

8th Grade

Students are developing a design brief for a paper bridge.  This requires several rough sketches, a three view sketch and a final sketch of the best design. Students will base their decision on the research they have conducted for the actual design.  Based upon their design they will create a mock up of the bridge.  Students will then complete cost analysis of their design.

Broadcasting

Students are applying the knowledge of storyboards in the development of programs, animation, and other media programs.  They are creating storyboards for a skit that they are creating.

Week of Sept 19 - 24

6th Grade: Students are using the various symbols that they learned and are used in the development of floor plans to complete their final copy of their home.  The final copy is due on Friday . 

7th Grade:  Students will explain to the rest of the class about the business they have created using the technological system along with a PowerPoint presentation and a model of their business.  Upon completion of the presentation the students will learn about the major inventions and innovations that have had a major on our lives in the past 100 years.

8th Grade:  Students are learning about the Universal System (Engineering Design) and are applying the knowledge learned to create a brief for a product.

Broadcasting:  Students are finishing up their skits and are learning how to differentiate between information and news.  Furthermore students will be applying their knowledge to research and question the stories presented to public by researching the various sources used in the stories.
