Course description

The Georgia Performance Standards provide clear guidelines for teaching the subjects, testing what students are learning, and the work students are doing.  They provide an understanding of what students are expected to learn. The standards are designed to be rigorous and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that students need for success in college and careers. This course will allow students to apply skills and concepts learned in other courses such as math, science, and language arts as they explore the various topics in engineering and technology education.

Materials/supplies

  • Engineering Design Journal (E.D.J.)- bound composition book (no spiral binders); this will be kept in the room at students’ risk
  • Pencils or Mechanical pencils with extra lead
  • Reading book
  • AMA Student Handbook

Student Expectations

  • Come to class prepared.
  • Follow all AMA and Muscogee County School District rules and procedures as outlined in the student handbook and/or student discipline code and policy handbook

Classroom Management

  • It is the goal of the teacher to create and maintain a positive learning environment where all students have the opportunity to explore technology and develop the skills necessary to be successful.
  • Disruptive or inappropriate behavior will result in possible removal from the work area and/or an alternative writing assignment.
  • Extreme disruptions to the learning environment will result in an Office Referral.
  • Prior to the end of class, the clean-up bell will sound. At that point, students are to clean-up their area, stand behind their chair, zero talk, and wait for teacher inspection and instruction before returning to the seating area.

Computer Usage

Computers are available in the classroom for student use.  Computer activity will be randomly monitored by the teacher during the class period.  If a student is found to be on an inappropriate website or using the computer outside of the intended use, the student will receive a warning or removal from the computer.  If the teacher deems it necessary, a consequence will be issued which may include an office referral.
