Monday, 8 April: Monday-Thursday we'll be completing the last section on Australia, studying their trade, currency & Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Friday, students will have time to complete USA Test Prep and Article of the Week. 

Monday, 1 April: Monday -Thursday, Australian economy & trade, Friday- Article of the week and USA Test Prep.

Monday, 18 March: Monday-Tuesday, Australian history study guide & worksheets, Wednesday: Quiz - Australian History (multiple choice), Thursday: Australian Government, Friday: USA Test Prep, Article of the week.

Monday, 11 March: Monday-Tuesday: the history of Australia and Timeline worksheet. Wednesday-Thursday: Australian government and writing prompt. Friday: Article of the week and USA Test Prep.

Monday, 4 March: Monday the students will complete an article of the week during class, Tuesday we'll complete our review for the district mandated Quarterly Based Assessment over our Canada Unit, Wednesday- Quarterly Based Assessment (30 multiple choice questions), Thursday-Friday we'll begin the unit on Australia  geography lessons. (On Tuesday all Blackmon Road students will receive a Chromebook which they'll use the remainder of the year during school hours only.)

Monday, 25 February: Monday-Wednesday - Quebec's Independence Movement lesson continued, Thursday - Quiz on the Quebec Independence lesson, Friday - Computer lab for USA Test Prep assignment completion. (Homework assignment given on Tuesday, due Thursday) (Article of the week due Friday)

Tuesday, 19 February: Tuesday - Achieve 3000 in the 6th grade lab, Wednesday-Thursday, We'll begin our last lesson on Canada with Quebec's Independence Movement. Friday - We'll be back in the lab for USA Test Prep review of Voluntary Trade & NAFTA.

Monday, 11 February: Monday-Thursday - How voluntary trade benefits buyers & sellers in Canada & North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Friday - USA Test Prep in 6h grade lab. (Homework this week: Article of the Week & USA Test Prep are due Friday.

Monday, 28 January, 2019: Students will be in the lab to complete USA Test Prep & Achieve 3000. USA Test Prep assignments are due this Thursday, students can complete assignments outside the lab at home. Tuesday - Complete Canada's environmental issues, Wednesday - Canada's government, Thursday - Computer lab for USA Test Prep & Achieve 3000 completion, Friday -  CNN 10 & Canada's government. ZAP (zeros aren't permitted) begins this week, it's the last week in every month. Student's missing any work will be ZAP'd (unable to participate in week long school wide activities during ILT) From here until the end of the year, any missing assignments will be recorded as an M (missing) in the gradebook on Infinite Campus which is a zero (0) for a grade. Missing work can be turned in late but for a lower grade. Please encourage your kids to get their work in on time. Thanks. 

Monday, 22 January, 2019: Students will be in the computer lab for Achieve 3000 & USA Test Prep, Wednesday-Thursday: Canada's impact of location, climate, natural resources, population distribution & environmental issues. Friday: Quiz over this week's lesson material.

Monday, 14 January, 2019: District Quarterly Based Cumulative Assessment 2: Europe, Latin America & the Carribeans. Students will be in the lab Monday to take this 30 question assessment. Tuesday-Thursday: Canada's geography. Quiz Thursday on Canada's geography. (Students will use their notes). Friday: CNN 10, Canada's Natural Resources & Location of where people live.

We have begun using USA Test Prep during the second semester. The first assignment was given Friday, 11 January and is due 31 January. Students may log on at home to complete assignments. 

Monday, 17 DecemberMonday-Tuesday: District mandated read & write session, Wednesday: Achieve 3000, Thursday-Friday: Documentary Video - America in the Twentieth Century: "The Cold War".

Monday, 10 December: Monday - 9 week assessment review (students with 88%-92% average are exempt from taking 9 week assessment, that's with no absences or tardies, students with 93% or better are totally exempt). Tuesday - 9 week assessment test (40 questions multiple choice) Questions will cover Europe & Latin America. Wednesday - Latin American Economies, Thursday-Friday -Latin America Voluntary Trade. (Bring in canned goods for the needy this week) School wide effort.

Monday, 3 December: Monday - Comparing Latin American Governments (Brazil, Mexico, Cuba) Tuesday - Achieve 3000, Wednesday & Thursday - Latin American Economies (Brazil & Cuba), Friday - CNN10 & Latin America's Voluntary Trade.

Monday, 26 NovemberStudents will continue studying in Latin America. Monday & Tuesday they'll learn about the "Cuban Revolution" and have worksheet homework Tuesday. Wednesday & Thursday they'll study the "Zapatista Movement" & its political impact on present day Mexico. They'll get a take home quiz Thursday. Friday is CNN 10 and a lesson beginning on Latin American Governments - Mexico, Brazil & Cuba. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving & holiday. 

Tuesday, 13 NovemberWe'll be in the lab Tuesday for Achieve 3000, Wednesday is the quiz on the "Columbian Exchange", students have notes to study from. Thursday-Friday, we'll study "Latin America and the Caribbean from European colonies to independent nations". Article of the week is due Friday and is posted above. Hope you all had a great Veterans Day holiday. 

Monday, 5 November: This week we'll study the impact European contact had on Latin America. We will quiz on Friday. Article of the week is due on Friday. Questionnaire sheets to complete the assignment are on the front table by the classroom door. Students should pick some up as they need. 

Monday, 29 October: This week students will learn the impact of location, climate, distribution of natural resources, and population distribution on Latin America and the Caribbean. They will also learn to describe the cultural characteristics of people who live in Latin America and the Caribbean. Students will have homework (Venn Diagram worksheets) on Monday, Wednesday, due on Monday. Tuesday, all classes will be in the lab for Achieve 3000.The week will end with a quiz Friday from the cultural characteristics lesson (Cloze Notes). Students may use their notes from the cultural characteristics lesson.  

Monday, 22 October: I want to congratulate you all for a job well done on your kids good behavior for the first 9 weeks. They finished first of all grades which earned them a dance last Friday afternoon. Also want to thank you on the good report I received from the substitute teachers during my three day absence last week. My mother is very ill.

On Monday, we'll begin our lesson on Latin America's geographical features. Tuesday is Achieve 3000 in the lab. Wednesday-Friday will be more physical features and the environmental issues of Latin America. Students will be given the articles of the week on Tuesday and have until Friday to turn them in. I'll post the articles on Canvas tomorrow. 

Monday, 15 OctoberLast week put us a little behind with school being out on Monday. Wednesday was early-release due to the storm, and Thursday no school for hurricane Michael. I hope all your family are safe from the storm. 

Monday we'll complete our lesson on the European Union with an in class assignment that is due on tomorrow. Tuesday we'll begin our last section on Europe with The Treaty of Versailles, the rise of communism, nazism and worldwide depression. Thursday we'll take an essay quiz (students may use notes). Friday will be CNN 10 and article of the week. 

Tuesday, 9 October: On Tuesday, students will be in the lab to take the Quarterly Based Assessment 1 (QBA). This is a district mandated assessment of the first 9 weeks. Wednesday & Thursday is our lesson on the European Union with a homework assignment Thursday. Friday, CNN 10 and article of the week. 

Monday, 24 September: On Monday we'll complete our lesson on Europe's three main religions. We ran over last week so students did not take a quiz. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday we'll complete the lesson on the Cold War. Friday is CNN 10 and article of the week read & write. 

Monday, 17 September: On Monday we'll begin our lesson on Europe's religions: Judaism, Christianity & Islam. We'll take a short quiz of the material on Thursday. Friday will be CNN 10 and article of the week read and write. I placed a sign up sheet in the room for students to enter the social studies fair. Deadline is Tuesday. 

Monday, 10 September: On Monday we'll be closing out our lesson Europe's location, climate and natural resources. Tuesday we'll begin preparing for a Thursday quiz on the cultural characteristics of European languages. Friday is CNN 10 and article of week. 

Monday, 4 September: We will be in the lab Monday for achieve 3000. Tuesday and Wednesday we'll be completing a graphic organizer depicting the  location,climate and natural resources of the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. Friday we'll watch CNN 10 and then complete our article of the week read and summary sheet. No quiz this week. 

Monday, 27 August: European unit begins by locating selected features of Europe on political-physical map of rivers, channels, seas, plains, mountains and peninsulas. Students will also have to locate on a regional political-physical map the countries of France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and United Kingdom.

Students will be quizzed on the above next Friday, 31 August but will be given a graphic organizer for in class review which they can take home each day for study beginning on Monday. 

Quiz Thursday, 23 August: Plotting lines of latitude & longitude. Each student received a homework study guide today to complete which also due on Thursday. 

Homework due: Friday, 17 August - personal finance vocabulary definition worksheet, 3 paragraph fill in blank worksheet, & 2 sentences for each vocabulary word. (This is work was already completed while I was out on jury duty M, Tu, Wed.)

Personal Finance Quiz: Thursday, 16 August, 2018. (18 vocabulary terms received last Friday) Students will have to match each vocabulary term with the correct meaning listed on the quiz.
