Welcome to Art at Aaron Cohn Middle School

Expectations:

I expect every student to be ready and actively learning all day every day.  This classroom is a place for learning and creating but is not a place for playing.  The GA standards for Visual Arts are followed and behavior disruptions will not be tolerated. 

It is unacceptable to cause disruption to learning.

What the Art Classroom is all about:

Be Independent

Show that you can follow rules and directions in the art classroom so your creativity can shine.

Be Individual

Show me what matters to you.

Be Creative

Show me your passion and have fun through different projects and materials.

Try new things and put effort into your artwork and everyone will be an artist.

Be Respectful

Show me you respect yourself by being respectful to me as your teacher and treating your classmates with respect.

Be Responsible

Take responsibility for your actions and use materials safely.

 

Grading:

Weekly Assignments are 40% of total grade.

Weekly assignments include practice exercises, handouts and writing reflections completed in class.

Points will be deducted daily for any students not prepared for class and ready to learn (not having a sketchbook and pencil/eraser), intentionally misusing materials or not participating in learning.

 

Master Artworks are 60% of total grade.

These are our art project completed in class.  Every student will be fully aware of all requirements and provided with all necessary instructions and materials needed.  Students receive constant encouragement, procedure and materials instruction and any other assistance needed while completing artwork.  Every artwork can be a masterpiece with hard work and creativity!
